Whistler Helicopter Elopement | Kim + Andy

It’s no surprise that these two opted for a Whistler helicopter elopement. Their love of adventure is what brought them together. From hiking to Everest base camp, cycling around Taiwan and snowboarding in Japan, to weekends spent outdoors closer to home in Vancouver. Nine years of adventures led to the most important one of all: getting married on a mountain!

We’ve got to start off this Whistler helicopter elopement with a story from the couple. As we mentioned, Kim + Andy are active, adventurous people. Naturally, their proposal would be something epic. So when Andy started making a plan to pop the question, he was drawn to the idea of helicopters. Something grand is needed for a couple like this! But before Andy could even get the helicopter proposal planned, Kim started planning a helicopter wedding. Talk about being on the same wavelength!

And while the helicopter was always a part of the plan, eloping was not. We asked Kim + Andy why they chose to elope and like so many other couples this year, health and safety played a major factor.

Truthfully, we were trying to wait out the pandemic, but it seemed to be never ending. So, we decided just to go for it. In the end it ended up being better for us than a big wedding. After the elopement, we both agreed that if we could go back and do it again, we would still elope even if there wasn’t a pandemic. I guess sometimes you just don’t know what works better for you until you aren’t really given a choice.

Even if the elopement wasn’t plan A, we couldn’t have imagined a better day for these two. To make it even more special, their closest family members came along for the ride with Black Tusk helicopters. Kim + Andy described them as more city people and were so elated to get them out into the fresh air of a mountaintop. It was a chance to share their love of the outdoors with the people they love most and really, does it get much cooler than that?!
