Trusting Your Elopement Planner | Karley + Adam | Whistler Elopements

Karley + Adam hadn’t even seen the location of their elopement ceremony before arriving in Whistler! But they put their full trust into their elopement planner (hey, that’s us!) and wouldn’t change a thing about their wedding day.

We know that handing over planning of something like your wedding day isn’t always an easy feat. But the adventure elopement of Karley + Adam is the perfect example of how handing off the hard work to an elopement planner can give you the day of your dreams without all of the stress. The pandemic postponed their wedding celebration for a whole year, but these two decided they didn’t want to wait that long to be married. That’s when they reached out to us for an intimate wedding ceremony.

These two had never seen their ceremony location before they arrived. They handed over complete control of planning and let us do what we do best. We used our local knowledge to scout an epic location and our years of experience photographing in different lighting to plan the perfect timeline. Our connections with other local vendors to craft the perfect post-ceremony celebration (thanks Picnic Whistler!). We may be a little biased, but we couldn’t have imagined a better day celebrating these two! But don’t just take our word for it, here’s what Karley + Adam had to say about their Whistler elopement and working with an elopement planner.

What was your highlight/favourite moment from the wedding day?

“The highlight of our wedding day was the incredible marriage ceremony that Steve performed for us. It blew away any expectation we had and felt so natural, authentic and unique to us as a couple. We loved being able to recite our own vows and Steve was instrumental in guiding and supporting us through the process. We were also astounded by the reception set up, which allowed us to have an intimate setting for photos and the best charcuterie board we’d ever had!”

If you could change something about the day, what would it be?

Honestly, nothing. We were a little worried about the weather, but knew that it was out of our hands and were ready to embrace whatever came at us. 

How was your experience with Tara and Steve?

“So, so fabulous – to the point we have recommended them to every couple we know getting married. Their energies balance each other so well and they allowed us to feel comfortable, confident and excited about the entire process. They work seamlessly together and while one of them was setting something up, the other was snapping a few photos. They are so professional and talented, which made giving them the reins to the entire elopement was the best decision we ever made!” 

You didn’t have video for the elopement – would you change that if you could go back?

“We are having two events; the elopement and a party (once it is safe to do so), and are having Paul as our videographer at the party to capture all of our favorite people. While we know that the video would have been an incredible memory to have and share with family and friends who were unable to attend, we feel so fortunate to have such incredible photos from Tara and do not feel that we missed out without a video.”

Were you nervous allowing us to choose the location? What are your thoughts on that?

“We knew that Tara and Steve would have the perfect location for us. They took into consideration our vision for the day, the people we were bringing, and most importantly our dog’s fitness level and tailored it to our location. They sent us photos from a scouting mission weeks prior, and the surprise of the location actually built into our excitement and anticipation. We couldn’t have chosen a better location for ourselves if we spent a year scouting and are so thankful they put the time and effort into ensuring it would be spectacular. “

“We originally feared that the elopement would take away from the original wedding plan, and would be a consolation prize to the pandemic. What we didn’t anticipate was that it became such an incredible additional memory and intimate celebration. We pondered delaying our wedding all together, or going ahead with two separate events and we are so thankful that we followed our heart and proceeded with the elopement. It was really important to us to include our dogs in the big day, and they embraced this idea entirely, from our engagement photos to having them front and center with us during the ceremony.

Tara & Steve were so easy to communicate with, took all the stress out of planning an event (especially during such challenging and uncertain times) and provided us some confidence and stability in our decision. The entire day felt comfortable and relaxed, like we were hanging out with old friends. We were grateful our values were aligned towards reducing our environmental impact and inclusivity. “We are thankful we trusted them entirely to craft the best experience we could have never even imagined.”

Karley + Adam let us know which photos were their favourites out of their gallery. They responded with, “It is almost impossible to choose – we now have an entire wall in our living room full of elopement photos!” We absolutely love hearing that our couples are displaying their images in their homes.
