Snow Cat Wedding | Serena + Erik | Whistler Elopements
When Serena + Erik came to us dreaming of getting married in a winter wonderland, we knew it was time for a snow cat wedding! It was an ideal winter day in Whistler and our team loved being a part of this intimate day full of fun, adventure and a whole lot of love.
Before we tell you more about this snow cat wedding, It all started with a swipe. A modern romance story. Serena + Erik met on a dating app! Yes, they really do work out sometimes. After a few dates and an unexpected connection, they realized that this was the real deal and the rest was history! A sweet proposal after a day at the pumpkin patch sealed the deal. They both knew they wanted an intimate wedding, somewhere with mountains, snow and natural beauty. All roads led to Whistler and that’s when we come into their story.
We wanted to celebrate their love of winter, their desire for something simple + intimate and ultimately something safe during the pandemic. It was like stepping into a snow globe. But instead of walking, we rode in style in a snow cat thanks to Canadian Wilderness! Snow was flying as they exchanged vows along a row of pines. Serena glowed in her non-traditional red velvet wedding dress. Friends and family watched safely from afar thanks to our live-stream video. A cozy fire kept us warm as we toasted the newlyweds. To add to the fun, we whipped out some sleds and played in the snow. Snow angels were made. Like little kids on a winter day, the whole group had a blast celebrating Serena + Erik.
It was the epitome of what elopements should be. No rules, no obligations, no stress. When we asked Serena + Erik if they had advice for couples planning to elopement, they emphasized the fun factor.
“Have fun!! Yes, there’s an element of sacrality and seriousness in making vows and committing to a life with your partner, but eloping gives you a chance to focus on the two of you unapologetically – to celebrate this big, happy news with just the two of you before you share it with the rest of the world. For us, this meant snow angels, tobogganing, and frolicking (and falling!) in the snow. From what I’ve heard from friends with big weddings, they don’t get the gift of private celebration in the midst of their ceremony, so be intentional with this piece – the team at Whistler Elopements can make this happen for you, and the pictures will be beautiful as they capture real, raw joy and playfulness in your first married moments.”
We think the images speak for themselves. What aspect of this snow cat wedding do you love the most? We think ceremony tobogganing was the perfect choice and was an absolute blast to capture!
