On the day of this PNW elopement, the weather decided that a helicopter was not an option. Instead Katarina + Daniel took a jeep into the clouds for this absolutely magical, moody mountain elopement, proving plan B isn’t necessarily second best.
When you choose to forego the traditional and elope somewhere in the outdoors, there are some things you’ve got to keep in mind. The biggest challenge, quite possibly, is the weather. It’s something that can’t be controlled and, as much as we try, it can’t always be predicted. Especially for a PNW elopement, whether you are tucked into the mountains or eloping on the coastline, the weather is going to play a role in your day.
Most of the time, a little bit of weather adds extra magic to your day. We’ve photographed foggy forests (Tara’s favourite!), rainy valleys, wild windy mountaintops and rainbow filled skies. The photos, stories and experiences from those days are some of our favorites! Rain or shine, it’s still the best day ever! But just in case you’re still worried about how the weather could affect your day, we thought we’d share some quick tips to ease your mind.
➤ Have a Plan B that you love
(And maybe even a Plan C.) We understand that the elements are out of our control, so we are always prepared if plans need to change due to weather. We will chat with you about your options based on the experience you’ve planned.
➤ Trust Local Knowledge
One of the best things about hiring locals is that we know where to go for great photos no matter the weather. We have umbrellas in the truck, rain covers for our gear, and the three of us are keen to embrace rain, wind and snow! You can trust that we’ll provide the best experience and take care of changes as they come.
➤ Know Your ‘Adventure Level’
By this we mean know how willing you are to embrace the elements ahead of time, and we can plan accordingly. Whether that means you are up for anything and ready to get a little wet, you’d prefer a dry Plan B and a cozy indoor option, or somewhere in between – just let us know
Take Katarina + Daniel’s PNW elopement for example! They planned on a helicopter adventure elopement in Whistler, but the weather was looking too rough for the flight. They didn’t let this throw off their day. Instead, they chose to embrace the weather and in return, got to say their ‘I dos’ in some magical cloud cover. This moody mountain elopement was actually a Plan B, but you could never tell.
