Sarah + Timo flew to BC from Germany in order to elope in Vancouver. With a beautiful ceremony on the beach before heading to Lynn Canyon Park, Sarah and Timo’s Vancouver elopement was the perfect way for the two of them to make a lifelong commitment to each other, exactly the way that meant the most to them.
“We dared to dream perfection and it actually became true! This day made as feel wild, free and crazy and we will try to keep that for the rest of our lives!” – Sarah
Sarah and Timo made the decision to elope in Vancouver when they were planning a road trip through the west coast of Canada and the USA. They met back in 2010 when Sarah, who is from the Canary Islands, was visiting her grandmother in Germany for the summer. After spending six weeks hanging out every day as friends, they both knew they wanted to be together. However, at the end of the summer Sarah returned home and they kept up a long-distance relationship for almost a year. At that point, they couldn’t stand the distance anymore, so Sarah transferred schools to be closer to Timo in Germany.
Fast forward almost 10 years and Sarah and Timo decide to elope in Vancouver while planning their roadtrip.
“Our wedding day was just perfect. Even better than we could have imagined. Getting married actually never was a big deal for us, but we always knew, that if we ever get married someday, it would be secretly and far away. That´s why we chose this year, this place. We had planned this huge roadtrip through Canada and Alaska and after planning the whole trip, it occured to us, that we might as well try to get married there as a part of it all.
We got married on Monday evening, on an almost empty beach in Vancouver that we had chosen. We dad a small and very beautiful ceremony on the beach. Barefoot and with the Vancouver skyline in the background. After that, we took some photos on the beach and then we went to Lynn Canyon Park. Timo loves bridges and we both love hiking. We spend two hours looking for some cool spots and taking lots of amazing pictures!
After that, we went back to Vancouver, stopped for some cheeseburgers and fries, which we fed ourselves in the car and headed to the bar at our hotel, where we had some drinks and a good time. That’s it. That was our perfect day!” – Sarah
Making the decision to have an elopement in Canada turned out to be an excellent decision for Sarah and Timo. In Sarah’s words:
“We are really glad that we did it our way. Sure, our family and friends would have loved to be there, see the ceremony and be a part of it. But that would have meant a ceremony in Germany: no beach, no crazy wild free feeling. And that´s not it. You are just doing this once and therefore you should picture what is perfect for you and just do it – no limits. Those who love you will understand and be happy for you, and if they don’t, who cares – it’s your day and you will remember it for the rest of your lives. Make it memorable!” -Sarah

I love it here in the Pacific Northwest, and you did a beautiful job of documenting the beauty of BC! These two lovebirds sure did have an elopement of the ages!
This Vancouver elopement looks like a dream!! I love love love that final image of them in the water and the drama of the shots on the suspension bridge. It looks like they had the most perfect wedding day.
Awwww I LOVE that they said their vows right on the beach in bare feet!! The cutest! This is the perfect spot for couples wanting to elope in Vancouver (and you’re obbbbviously the best photographers to capture it all too!)
These are beautiful photos! And I really love with Sarah said about making their wedding their own – it’s so true!
WOW! Such a great storytelling Tara! I love your greens. My favourite photo when they are running in the water and these close to nature images with forest. Especially wide angles. Great work!!!
This is so dang beautiful! All of the little details shots and then saying their vows on the beach barefoot! What a dream! These photos are so gorgeous.
Wow, reading about their love stories just made the photos so much more magical. Long distance relationships can be hard to sustain so it’s beautiful when you see a couple come together despite the odds. The location was gorgeous, your photos were gorgeous, I love it all!
Absolutely beautiful work as always! I love stumbling into previous work and seeing lots of new and beautiful ways you capture a couple’s love story!
