Blackcomb Mountain Elopement | Sabrina + John | Whistler Elopements

Watching the sunset in the mountains is always a magical experience. Watching the sunset in the mountains on your wedding day is straight out of a fairytale. Sabrina + John adventured with us into the alpine for their Blackcomb Mountain elopement. The weather was perfect with blue skies and just a few hazy clouds on the horizon. The sunset blew away everyone’s expectations.

A wedding is a huge event in every couple’s lives and should be celebrated. Since every couple is unique it also makes every wedding unique. Some weddings can be massive events with hundreds of people, while other weddings can be simple mountain elopements with just two partners. There is also the space for millions of different options in between. Sabrina and John chose to elope in Whistler with a Blackcomb Mountain elopement, accessing the alpine using 4×4 Jeeps and amazing tour guides from our partners at Canadian Wilderness Adventures.

Sabrina and John brought along Sabrina’s sister and her partner as witnesses, and the four of them got ready at the Four Seasons Whistler Resort, before we met them with the Jeeps to start the journey up the mountain. The road to the alpine winds up through the Whistler-Blackcomb ski resort, passing through massive forests and stunning views before climbing above the treeline at the Rendezvous Lodge. A few more short yet steep kilometers and we arrive at our ceremony location for Sabrina and John’s Blackcomb mountain elopement. We walk down a long ridge with steep cliffs on both sides, overlooking the Horstmen Glacier to reach the spot affectionately known as “Proposal Point”

Sabrina walked down the ‘aisle’ with 360° views. The two of them shared the most intimate personal vows and lots of tears were shed from everyone in attendance. After their ceremony they were even able to Facetime their families in Ireland to share a celebratory toast to their marriage.

We captured some gorgeous bridal portraits and family photos at Proposal Point before dropping a little bit lower on Blackcomb Mountain where we found a beautiful comfortable spot to enjoy some refreshments. Featuring a grazing box from Picnic Whistler the spread of meats, cheeses, crackers, fruit, and veggies was a perfect snack to satisfy everyone’s appetites until their dinner reservation back in Whistler Village.

We timed our excursion for the evening hours so that we could experience the sun setting over the Coast Mountains to end the evening. Capturing a few more amazing portraits at golden hour, the warm light from the alpenglow escorted us back to the Jeeps for the return trip down the mountain. After arriving back at the Four Seasons, Sabrina and John were treated to an amazing wedding meal and cocktails at Sidecut.

For a small Blackcomb Mountain elopement, it was every bit as magical (perhaps more-so) than any other wedding they could have planned.

4×4 elopements are an excellent way to experience the mountains and have a relaxing private ceremony. They are also an excellent back-up option to a helicopter elopement in case of inclement weather. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you are considering a mountain elopement. I would love to discuss all of your options and ideas! info@whistlerelopements.com.
